I just wanted to say another huge thank you for last night’s bass trip!  I’ve been fishing since I was a toddler, spent time in Costa Rica for Tarpon, lived down by the Chesapeake for 5 years, and I have never had a night like last night!  The mates were awesome, boat wasn’t crowded, the rest of the fishermen were great, and most importantly, the fish were hungry!  I couldn’t ask for a better night of fishing, so THANK YOU Black Hawk Team! I’m already trying to recruit a friend or two to come with me on this coming weekend’s night bass trip!

I wanted to say thank you for a great trip! I was a little worried when I heard we had a fill in for Captain Greg, but Capt. Eric did a great job putting us on fish and was a great guy to talk to. This was our first trip on the Blackhawk, and one of my sons first deep sea fishing trips. When I was looking for a boat I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but we couldn’t have picked a better boat! The crew was the best I ever had over the years. Both of my sons were impressed, by how the crew was so personnel. They noticed all the other boat would blow the horn for lines down and up were on the Blackhawk the captain was on the rail watching and would tell us how deep and when to put the line in. it was the little things that made the trip a good one. We will be back soon, next trip night bass fishing can’t wait!

Good morning.
My son and I took the 1p.m. fishing trip yesterday (September 3) and I wanted to say a big thanks to all aboard the Blackhawk. He had never been out fishing on a charter boat before. We had a great time fishing and he caught his first Blue on the trip. The Mates were very helpful in showing my son the right way to use the rods and how to fish for blues. 

I would like to say a special thank you to the wonderful woman that was working the galley. My son came down with a migraine headache while we were on the boat. She gave him a place to lay down and a cold towel for his head, and even let him use her sweatshirt as a pillow. 

Even though he came down with the headache and missed a good portion of the trip, he cant wait to come back and fish again. We will definitely be back next season.

I was one of the winners of the BlackHawk II fishing trip for 2.  My sister-in law joined me yesterday on my very first fishing trip. We went fishing for porgies.

What a great time we had.  The captain and all the mates were great.  We were the first to arrive before 6 am Sunday morning for the 7am fishing trip.  We met Steve who was GREAT.   He helped with everything and was there to instruct me in  the best ways to handle my fishing pole and land the fish he said I would be catching throughout the day.  Also all the other members of the crew were there to help and assist.  We also met and had a lot of fun exchanging jibes with the other 50 people on the fishing trip.

We journeyed out to the area around Fisher’s Island and when we were told to drop out lines I had the first fish of the day within seconds.

Although it was a bit cool at the start we warmed up really fast as the sun beat down on us. By 2pm when the water started to get rough we headed back into port and arrived back on land by 3pm.

What a fantastic time.  Captain Greg knows how to get to the right spots for everyone to catch fish.  We watched other boats with their customers just standing there waiting for the fish to bite while we were hauling in fish after fish.

My sister-in-law and I finished the day with 45 porgies between us.  The crew for a modest 50 cents each cleaned and fillet out fish.  What a great deal.  Captain Greg said whole porgies go for about $3.40 at the market.  The porgies were about 2-3 pounds each so we ended up with a good supply of fillets.

               I wanted to write and tell you that my trip on the Blackhawk was the best ever!! I took my 2 grandsons age 13 and between the three of us we caught 23 fish. The Captain was right on as to where the fish were. The Mates were the best, they were so helpful and patient with my grandsons, explaining everything and even took the time out to give them one on one instruction. A few of the other passengers were regulars and even they were helping their fellow passengers (strangers to them) with advice. The trip will be a memory for the boys and myself for years to come.. We will always go on the Blackhawk and HIGHLY recommend others to fish with The Blackhawk and its crew..

I recently did some bluefish and striped bass fishing with the BlackHawk II on the 4-10 trip last month. I caught my limit on stripers and got four blues. Mates are the best, and the captain is the best on the water. I highly recommend this boat to others. The mates go out of their way to teach you the littlle things o...f how to use the reel all the way up to how to catch that trophy bass that everyone has been waiting for, and the captain definitely knows what he's talking about. It all starts at the dock with the instruction on how to use the rod and reel and how to fish the bucktail or bait that they are using. If you listen to Capt.Greg and do what he says you will hook up with fish once you get out onto the water. If you dont listen then you will waste time on buying new rigs instead of fishing because you thought you could drag bottom. All it takes is to listen to him and you'll be fine. Look forward to coming on another trip next week .

My only experience was years ago on a private charter. The trip this morning was monumental for both of us! We enjoyed a beautiful, relaxing, exciting day on the boat and met so many amazing people in addition to you and your crew. Jim, Steve, and Jared were SO helpful! Your sense of humor makes the trip even better. Needless to say, Eric is hooked (ha ha, no pun intended) and we will absolutely be back as often as we can! Early this morning I had the oppourtunity to experience my first charter boat fishing trip. I was not optimistic at first, but my soon to be wife insisted that I would love it, so I gave it a shot. Sure enough, I LOVED it! Fishing for Blues was like nothing I've fished before! I was always a freshwater fisherman, but not anymore! We had 2 families of 8 people (4 kids) fish with you folks on 6/5/10. To say we enjoyed ourselves is a gross understatement.

Heather, Capt. Greg, Steve, Wayne, Jim, Jayson, Ben, and Tracy are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. I’ve been fishing for 45 out of my 49 years (on and off), and never felt so at home on a boat as I did while on the Blackhawk II. Every request was met with courtesy and enthusiasm. Every effort was made to make sure our needs were met and that our kids caught fish and had fun. Whatever business formula and/or philosophy you’re following, keep doing it, because it’s working. You people made us all feel like we were your friends.

Not only will we be back, but I’ll be recommending the Blackhawk II to all the people I know (at least the ones I like!). My kids haven’t stopped talking about it since.

Rob K from staten island here. fished with you guys last thurs. ngt. fast paced fishing, fast paced current fast paste fishing boats. greg was out of his mind, but i guess thats normal for him LOL. this was my first time fishing with yuo guys as i live on the other side . dispite gregs aggressiveness, i did so appreciate his constant input as we fished. never have i seen a capt become more anxious for his fares to catch fish, even to the point of frustration when we didnt pay attention. i have fished many boats most good capts, but capt. greg you my freind are in a class of your own. will try to make it up there again this season.

Fishing Saturday September 19, 2009

I took my 9 year old grandson for his first ocean fishing experience on the Blackhawk and it was everything we could have hoped for and then some. The crew was awesome, cheering him on when he was doing battle with a monster blue fish and even assisting with bating the hook now and then to let me get some time in on the action. These guys were some of the best mates I have seen in all my years, it was as if they had roller skates on with all the action happening from tip to tail. The captain really knew his stuff to, we were on the fish all day. 

 

What a great day for my grandson and a memory for his grandpa to.

Without a doubt the Blackhawk has got to be the best fishing boat around. We can’t wait to do it again and so should YOU!

I was booked on the night bass trip for monday july twenty first. This day was when the bridge was out of commission. Captn Greg Dubrule called me and left me a very concerning message on my blackberry telling me that the bridge was down and that we were going to be sailing the next night at ten thirty. Never in my life have i had a captan care this much about his customers.

When i boarded the boat, Captn Greg instructed everyone on the boat how to use the tackle. All of the mates were extreamly nice. They helped me out with every tangle and even put the slimy eels on my hooks.

Later on the fishing trip i caught and landed a fifty pound striped bass on a live eel and had many other bass and maybe blue bites. My bass was the biggest one on the boat untill tim, a regular on the Black Hawk landed an even bigger bass to win the pool. The captn kept repeating that on the night bass trips its not luck, its skill. Well on the black hawk II they give you skill. 

I am part of a fishing club and the next morning we were on the ---, the black hawks rival boat. the black hawk out fished the--- by soo much. On the --- we landed five little almost snapper bluefish out of 40 people on the boat. On the black hawk II i think everyone caught a keeper striped bass except my brother ben and the mates. No one can out fish the black hawk II

Hello,I just wanted to compliment you the recent fishing trip that my son and I went on.  The crew was outstanding, helpful and very patient indeed. We had a rowdy bunch around us but the crew quickly subduedthem.  They made our fishing experience an excellent time, Caisse, Dennis, and Ryan were reallyFriendly and I wouldn’t and I wouldn’t want to leave out Capt. Greg!  Capt. Greg took the extra time to explain some of the better techniques to catching Stripers and Bluefish, even to the extent of coming down from inside his control cabin to grab a pole and show us how! He even allowed us to go up inside his control area to view and explain the instruments.   I would highly recommend any one considering going on a charter to use the BlackHawk II You will not be disappointed, in fact my friends and I are going to make this a yearly ritual!

I would like to relate my experience fishing aboard the Blackhawk party boat on June 12 out of Niantic, CT. Before leaving the dock, I was rigging up my rods with a diamomd jig on one and a bucktail on the other when Capt. Greg Dubele came along for an inspection. He looked at my bucktail and suggested that I replace my plastic headed one with a metal headed. I went to my tackle box and pulled one out. He looked at it and said the hair tail was too long , then went into the cabin and personally cut it to the proper length.

 

Once out on rthe water, I tried my diamond jig with no luck on the first two drifts and then switched over to the modified bucktail on the third. I was promptly rewarded with a nice keeper bass. Sticking mostly with the bucktail for the rest of the day, I landed four bass and a blue, and lost maybe the biggest bass of the day at the surface before we could net him.

 

What makes this story a little different was that, at the end of the trip, I found that my modified bucktail had outfished the whole rest of the boat by three keeper bass to two. Plus my largest bass was the pool winner. In my five decades of party boat fishing, I had never received such personal attention and good advice from a boat captain. I went to thank Captain Dubele for his efforts and reccomend his boat to anyone who wants to enjoy a great day out fishing.
